Ideology for my music magazine
"Whack", the brand of my rap magazine, will focus on many aspects in the music industry. Although it will feature many established artists such as Jay z, Drake, Eminem and Logic to meet the demands of the audience, it will also focus on the less known rap/hiphop artists as I feel that this is very important. As G-Eazy said, " The dream of being discovered is dead", as there are many artists nowadays who aspire to make it big and our brand make it our mission to try and find great talent in the country. Also, the Magazine will focus on the actual raw ability of rappers such as the rhyme schemes they use, syllables a line, speed, and context as we feel that most listeners don't understand a lot about this and this Magazine would inform them about this side of hip hop and rap. It will also feature more serious issues about the established artists outside their music career as I feel that this would attract a lot more people as they would want to know what is going on in their lives.

Photography for Main Image
For my front cover I will be using James to pose as Eminem. He will be wearing a hoodie and sticking his hand out to the audience, so that the reader feels a part of it and engaged and will get a sense that Eminem is reaching out to them . I will be using a dark background and am not too bothered about the colour as long as the background doesn't have any patterns. I won't be taking it in the school environment as this is unrealistic and won't be effective. James will have to pose with a lot of confidence as this is an established and very popular artist.

Masthead Feedback
From the 10 people that I asked, 7 said that they preferred the 3rd one as they found the black and yellow colour scheme very vibrant and eye catching and they also liked the structure of the Masthead with "Whack" at the top and "Magazine" at the bottom. They also said that the font was very appropriate for the genre and that it would merge well with the other aspects of the front cover.
The other 3 people said the last one as they liked the simplicity of it and found the font very clever and unique.

Ideology of Vibe Magazine
Vibe Magazine was found by Quincy Jones and mostly focuses on R&B and hip hop artists. Quincy believes that rap music speaks out to people more than any other genre. The Vibe Magazine's are mostly aimed at the male audience because of the explicit content and because of how women are portrayed in certain songs. This is why the majority of artists on the front cover are males as they are a lot more popular in this music industry than women. Moving on, Vibe heavily feature established artists as they feel that by using popular artists the magazine would appeal more. Vibe do sometimes include growing artists in the articles in the magazine however they are never given the main spotlight as the audience wouldn't find the magazine appealing if the front cover featured an unknown artist. This is why Vibe highly promote established artists and use them to attract attention to their magazine. Also, although Vibe use the same masthead each time, the colour scheme is different on most of them and they usually use very bright colours or colours that contrast well with the background as we can see in the image above. Most of the shots that Vibe use for their front covers are close up shots as the audience can then easily identify the artist and can see their facial expressions a lot easier.

Music Magazine Ideas
The genre I have chosen to do is Rap. This is because that I am quite knowledgable in this industry and have a very strong passion for the art, so I think that the work I will produce will be of a very high quality. I will be including R&B artists as well as grime artists as well as I fell that this will increase the chance of it appealing to people, and the target audience range would enlarge therefore making the magazine a lot more popular.
Name possibilities:
- FLOW
- BARZ

Photo planning for school magazine
For the school magazine, I will be taking a over the shoulder shot of a fellow student whilst they are working on a computer in the library. I fell that this would be good as the main article within the magazine will be about revision so having a student working on the front cover would be appropriate. However, I may also use a medium close up shot as I feel that this would engage the audience more.

Target audience for my School Magazine
The target audience for my school magazine is going to be students from year 10 - year 13 from Plantsbrook school as I feel that most of the content going in my magazine will be more applicable and helpful to them where as as lower years won't find the content appealing as it isn't important and informative to them. This is because I will be covering topics such as gcse and A level revision and other revision material. However, certain issues of the magazine could appeal to the younger audience such as charity events or other events that take place in the school
