Interview with Kendrick Lamar
Q: Where have you been for so long?
A: You know its took me a while to figure
out what I want to do. I’ve rapped about everything there is to rap about in my
career so I had to really think about what I wanted to do next and what it was
going to be about. Hence, this album
Q. Right. Now this next question
probably won’t surprise you, can you explain what you were trying to say in
your control verse?
A: Yeah well there’s been a lot of hype
regarding that track I released. All I can say is, just listen to the lyrics.
If you listen, you’ll understand that I have huge respect for the rappers I
mentioned and the ones I didn’t mention are the ones that I’m dissing. Friendly
competition is all it is and people don’t understand that.
Q: Theres rumours of a future track with
Eminem. Is this true?
A: Yeah well it is likely to happen. I got
in touch with Em and sent over some of my stuff and he said he liked it very
much and wanted to work with me soon. So you’ll just have to wait on it but
hopefully it’ll happen. He’s a legend in the rap game and I’d love to work with
him.
Q: Are there any concerts upcoming that fans should know about?
A: Yeah I may be doing a concert in the UK later on in the year as I've grown quite a big fanbase there so it would be nice to perform there in London or something, but we will see, nothings official yet but the UK can probably expect a visit.

Treatment for music magazine
TREATMENT FOR MUSIC MAGAZINE PRODUCTION
Title of my production : Whack Genre : Rap
Brand identities and values of my magazine:
The Main purpose of my magazine is to feature established artists who are popular and appeal to the audience but also feature upcoming artists and support them and get their music heard. It will also portray a real and true idea of what artists have been saying and any upcomingmusic that they are making
What contents will be featured in my magazine?
- Upcoming tracks and albums by various artists
- interviews with popular artists
- Latest news on the rap industry
Intended target audience:
My target audience is males aged from 13-18 due to the content included in the magazine and the explicit language in certain tracks that may be featured, or content of the stories that may be discussed. Also, this age group will like the music featured as this genre of music is mainly heard by people this age
What representation will I included my magazine?
On the front cover I will be showing a rap artist who will be dressed in very baggy clothes to show the stereotype of how rappers dress and he will also be quite played back to show the sort of attitude he has.
What will my magazine look like?
My magazine will use very bright colour schemes to appeal to the audience and will always use a large main image to make it look more professional and sleek, and give a premium feel to the magazine

Survey analysis
From the results, we can see that most people listen to classic rap. This will be useful to know as I now know what artists I could feature and which ones would be popular and appeal to the audience
Most people are willing to spend anything from £1-£3 (50%) however there are some who are willing to spend £5+ (12.5%), therefore the selling price for m magazine could be potentially high if people are willing to spend that much.
As we can see most of the people who took the questionnaire are aged between 10-18. This is good as this was my intended target audiences I can focus on specifically appealing to this age group of people who listen to rap, grime or hiphop.
With this question there was an even split of 28.57% for 0-2 years, 2-4 years, and 6+ years. What I have gathered from this is that I will need to include modern day artists who were main stream from maybe 4-5 years ago as people who have been listening to rap for 6 years plus will want to see these artists being featured
From these results we can see that some people wish to see already established artists such as Eminem and 50 can, where as others want to see articles on upcoming rap artists such as Callum Adams. It is likely that my magazine will feature a mix of both however more established artists as there is more demand for this and it will appeal to more to the audience
